IN my school we have this project called national history day(n.h.d) its nation wide but i believe were the only school in the philadelphia school district that does it. We can either do a exhibit, paper, performance, and documentary. To present it . The theme of the project this year is conflict and compromise. I did the project on The Carson Valley School. I worked on the project with my friend sameerah pittmon.
The conflict : The Carson Valley School opened in 1918 . The school only allowed healthy white girls over the age of five years old . That was doubled orphaned.
The compromise : Now the school is open to ever race, gender, and age . Now you don’t even have to be doubled orphaned or a orphan at all. Today the average Carson student lives in a unstable home or there parents cannot take care of them mentally and or physically .
THESIS STATEMENT
Opened in 1918 the Carson valley school provided a shelter , home, and education for white doubled orphaned girls over the age of five years old, but later in the 1940’s or so they started letting the girls brothers in &by 1965 they made the school interracial so all ra1ces could come. Now today children who’s parents are unable to take care of them are not in a safe place to live .The Carson school was there
to help them to give them a home so they can feel loves.
